COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE 2025 ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF FORMER SPEAKERS OF STATE LEGISLATURES OF NIGERIA, AOWA IBOM STATE WING

PROTOCOL

Dear Akwa Ibomites,
Ladies/Gentlemen of the Press,

We the Former Presiding Officers of the State Legislative Arm of Government under the aegis of 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙁𝙀𝙍𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀 𝙊𝙁 𝙁𝙊𝙍𝙈𝙀𝙍 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙍𝙎 𝙊𝙁 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙏𝙀 𝙇𝙀𝙂𝙄𝙎𝙇𝘼𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙀𝙎, 𝘼𝙆𝙒𝘼 𝙄𝘽𝙊𝙈 𝙎𝙏𝘼𝙏𝙀 𝙒𝙄𝙉𝙂 hereby present to you a communiqué emanating from our deliberations today Thursday 30th October 2025, at D’Angelo Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo – Akwa Ibom State.

This conference reconvened to deliberate on the prevailing political circumstances in our esteemed state and to thoroughly assess the performance of His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno’s led administration.

After a meticulous and rigorous examination of the various reports, particularly focusing on the budgetary provisions vis-à-vis the allocations actually received and effectively utilised by the administration, 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙪𝙣𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙬𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙢𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙮 𝙀𝙣𝙤 𝙋𝙝.𝘿, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙠𝙬𝙖 𝙄𝙗𝙤𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚.

It is essential to highlight that as former custodians of legislative oversight, our pronouncements are grounded solely in factual and objective analysis rather than sentiment or partisan interests. The tangible progress made under Pastor Umo Eno’s tenure in unifying and advancing the development of Akwa Ibom State through his admistration’s A.R.I.S.E Agenda is both commendable and deserving of public recognition.

Furthermore, our meeting underscored the significance of the collaboration between 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮, 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙢𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙮 𝙀𝙣𝙤 𝐏𝐡.𝐃, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙠𝙬𝙖 𝙄𝙗𝙤𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 and 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙙𝙨𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙊𝙗𝙤𝙩 𝘼𝙠𝙥𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙤 𝙂𝘾𝙊𝙉, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙤𝙛 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖, which has evidently yielded substantial benefits for the state’s political stability and socio-economic advancement.
Their concerted efforts to foster cohesion among diverse political factions and rally collective support towards the return of 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙖 𝘼𝙝𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙗𝙪 𝙂𝘾𝙁𝙍 to the presidency as 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 -𝙞𝙣- 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙤𝙛 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 in the ensuing national elections are both strategic and necessary.

We also wish to categorically caution and warn all political actors within and outside the state against the perils of factionalism, blackmail and divisive politics. Such detrimental tendencies threaten to erode the gains made recently by His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno Ph.D, and risk plunging our beloved state into unnecessary political instability. 𝙒𝙚 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙, 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚-𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙗𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙢𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙮 𝙀𝙣𝙤 𝙋𝙝.𝘿 𝙖𝙨 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙠𝙬𝙖 𝙄𝙗𝙤𝙢 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕. This assertion is premised on undeniable realities relating to his demonstrated leadership qualities, widespread acceptance, and the unparalleled popularity he enjoys across all strata of the Akwa Ibom populace.

We appeal to all stakeholders, political parties, and citizens to rally behind this unified vision of His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno to ensure the continued peace, stability, and prosperity of our cherished state.
