GIDEON UWA PRESENTS LAW SCHOOL GRANTS, MEETS STUDENT LEADERSHIP
The Executive Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Gideon Uwa, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, presented educational grants to indigenes of the area who are proceeding for studies at the Nigerian Law School, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and investing in the future of Etim Ekpo.
The presentation, which took place at the Chairman’s Office, saw the beneficiaries receive financial support of Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only (N500,000) each, to ease the burden of their legal education.

Speaking during the presentation, Uwa encouraged the students to remain diligent, disciplined and focused on their studies as good ambassadors of Etim Ekpo, noting that education remains one of the most valuable tools for personal development and community advancement.
Shortly after the grant presentation, the Chairman held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Etim Ekpo Students Worldwide (NAEES) led by Comr. Hanson Idiongo. The engagement provided an opportunity for discussions on issues affecting students and the association’s role in fostering unity and development among Etim Ekpo students across tertiary institutions.
During the meeting, the council boss disclosed that arrangements were underway for the convening of a Congress of the association, which would officially dissolve the current executive committee and usher in a new leadership through a transparent and democratic process. He emphasized the importance of continuity, accountability and purposeful leadership in sustaining the association’s growth.
In appreciation of his unwavering support for education and youth development, the leadership of NAEES presented the Chairman with the Best Chairman in Etim Ekpo History Award. The students described the honour as a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the welfare of students, his people-oriented leadership style and his sustained investment in educational advancement within the local government.
Responding to the recognition, the Chairman expressed gratitude to the student body for the honour, dedicating the award to the people of Etim Ekpo. He reaffirmed his resolve to continue implementing policies and programmes that empower young people, expand educational opportunities and promote sustainable development across the local government.
