God is the Lifter of Men: Nsibiet John on the Spotlight

There is a biblical injunction in James 4:6 that says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” That is the story of the rising of Nsibiet John from Chairman of Federated Chapel, one of the largest Chapels of NUJ to the position of No.1 Journalist in Akwa Ibom State, serving as State Chairman. His sudden rise to the exalted position cannot be linked to goodwill alone, but his humble disposition is also counted for him.

In 2021, when we muted the idea of Coalition of Online Publishers, Bloggers and Social Media Influencers, COPBSMI and decided to host our pioneer event, Eket Senatorial District Media Hangout, Nsibiet John was one of the persons we contacted to present a Paper at the event. Despite the fact that he was contacted just about three days to the event since we didn’t really plan it, he didn’t hesitate but showed up and presented one of the papers that add value to the event.

In 2022, when we put up another event, Media Converge, we extended invitation again to Nsibiet John to be one of our Panelists on a media related topic. Again, he showed up ànd made very valuable contributions which was counted as one of the success of the event. He didn’t turned down our invite and even as Chairman, Federated Chapel of NUJ, Nsibiet John never see himself very high not to mix up with people, a rarity in our society especially among those who are occupying one political office or another. He is always there for people.
Now that he has assumed office as State Chairman, I will test his humility by inviting him again to our event.

Moreover, I have raised concern on some issues which we had private conversations severally, he must always find a way to resolve issue. He is always playing the peace advocate and like to calm people down when misunderstanding set in.

I still recall when the issue of who to succeed Amos Etuk as NUJ Chairman in Akwa Ibom State was raised two years ago and I mentioned that if Nsibiet John contest, he will win because he Command followership and has admirers across the entire media community in the state, but a Journalist spoke otherwise. Last week Saturday, August 02, affirmed what many of us were thinking and that tall dream becomes a reality. Today, he has resumed office officially after a handing over by his predecessor.

My earnest prayer is that Nsibiet John should succeed and implement all his campaign manifesto so as to win the confidence of the over 500 Journalist that voted for him at the poll.

Once again, congratulations brother.
