Gov Eno Imprints in Oro Nation Excites LG Boss
The Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Chief Okon A. Enweme, has applauded Governor Umo Eno for what he described as massive infrastructural and social development projects that have changed the face of Oron Federal Constituency.
He said the people of Oron federal constituency, happy that the Governor is keeping his promises, are ready to support him throughout his two terms in office.
Chief Enweme gave the commendation while receiving the State’s Documentary Team on a visit to Oron.
He noted that the Governor’s interventions in roads, education, healthcare, empowerment, tourism and security have directly improved the living conditions of the people.
“I want to start by saying that His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and the media have done a great job.
“Let me tell the world that the people of Oron Federal Constituency once found it very difficult to access Uyo because of the bad road.
“Governor Umo Eno has changed that story and our people can now move freely to Uyo,” the Chairman said.
He cited the construction of the Nsit Atai-Okobo road and the rehabilitation of Effiong Essang and Ukpong Streets in Oron main town, among other roads, which were previously impassable.
“Those roads were death traps, but today, the story is different. People can now move freely within and outside the town,” he noted.
On education, the chairman lauded the construction and commissioning of Arise Model Primary Schools in both Oron and Okobo, as well as the approval for an Arise Model Secondary School in the constituency.
He also highlighted the newly completed Health facilities at Udung Uko and Urueffong Oruko, describing the gesture as a timely intervention for the people’s healthcare needs.
Chief Enweme also spoke about the ongoing transformation of the Oron Beach with the construction of the Jetty and Marine Resort, designed to reposition Oron as a tourism marine transport hub.
The visit to Oron formed part of a statewide documentation tour by the Governor’s team, which also covered Onna, Udung Uko, Eket, and Ibeno Local Government Areas. The delegation included the SSA to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, the Director of Documentary and Archives in the Ministry of Information, Dr Eunice Egharevba, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Dr. AmanamHillary Umo-Udofia.
Beyond infrastructure, the Chairman praised Governor Eno’s empowerment schemes, stating that many indigenes have received grants and business supports to improve entrepreneurship in the area. “A whole lot of people are benefitting from this government in terms of empowerment. The Governor is programming the people of Oron Federal Constituency for growth,” he said.
Speaking further, the Oron council boss commended the administration for restoring peace and security in the area.
“It used to be unsafe, but today Oron people are sleeping with their eyes closed. The Governor is serious about protecting lives and property, and that is the primary duty of every government,” he stressed.
Chief Enweme expressed confidence that Governor Umo Eno would deliver more development projects before the end of his first term.
“if in just two years the Governor has achieved this much, we believe the remaining years will bring even greater progress for our people,” he concluded.
At the Oron Jetty site, the Project Manager Engr Uwem Ikono conducted the team around the terminal and Warehouse
He disclosed that the roofing of the terminal and warehouses of the facility will commence soon while other components of the resort will also begin to spring up.
