Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has sent his condolences to the family, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and associates of the former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, CFR, whose sad passing was announced earlier today, August 31, 2025.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State

“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I express our deepest and profound condolences to the family, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), friends, and associates of the former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, CFR, on his sad and painful demise.

“The late IGP Arase served our Nation meritoriously and reached the height of his career as the 18th Inspector General of Police.

“As the IGP, he introduced numerous reforms, especially in intelligence gathering—both human and technological applications—to combat and solve crimes, thus ensuring the perpetrators were made to face the full wrath of the law.

“He served our State as the Commissioner of Police with verve and passion, and he contributed to laying the building blocks that today have made our State one of the most peaceful and secure in the Nation.

“Even in retirement, and as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), he continued to serve our Nation and never stopped expressing his love and affection for our State and our people. We celebrate his service to our State and the Nation.

“May his soul rest in peace.”
