Parents have been urged to prioritize raising their children in the way that will please God and caused them to live responsibly so as to fulfill their purpose in life.

A Guest Speaker, Pastor Mrs. Emem Mandu, gave the charge during the Children’s Day Thanksgiving Service on the theme: Rooted in Christ, drawn from Colossians 2:7, held at Word of Grace Bible Church auditorium, Plot 80/86 Afaha Uqua Obok Idim Road, Eket.

“It is our collective responsibility to raise our children right. We need to teach children their identity,” said Pastor Mandu.

She reminded us that our home is the first church for our children, and we must be intentional about teaching them God’s word beyond just morning devotions.

She also emphasized the power of the environment we create: the way we treat our spouses, how we affirm our children, and how we model love and respect.

“We must build a home where children can freely communicate and are taught culture, values, contentment, integrity, and godly character,” she stated.

The Lead Pastor, Pastor George Umana, spoke prophetic words over the children and their families. He declared that they will grow strong in faith, remain rooted in Christ, and shine as godly leaders in their generation.

Earlier, the children took the lead in the word as Master Wealth Elvis shared a powerful charge on the topic “Rooted in Christ.” He reminded the children of Bible heroes like Samuel, David and Josiah who knew God from young age and stood firm in Him. He also showed them how to be rooted in Christ by praying, reading the Bible, attending church regularly, and choosing good friends who love Jesus.

From powerful recitations to soul-lifting songs, captivating drama, choreography and varieties, the children ministered to the glory of God and blessed the entire church. The event climaxed with cutting of cake by birthday celebrants. Indeed, children are the heritage of the Lord and deserve to be cared for and groom in a godly way.
