Mbong Emerges Leader Unified Forum of Former Elected Councillors in Akwa Ibom State
…promises to support ARISE Agenda Policy
Former Councillor in Eket Legislative Council, Hon. Joseph Mbong, has emerged the Leader of Unified Forum of Former Elected Councillors in Akwa Ibom State.
Other members of the State Executive Committee are: Hon. Godwin Attah, Ph.D, Uyo Senatorial District Leader, Hon. Iberedem Akpan, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Leader, Hon. Kingsley Obiosio, Eket Senatorial District Leader, while Hon. Ukeme Peters served as Secretary General, Hon. Mkpong Isangidighe, Assistant Secretary, and Barr. Bassey Bassey, Legal Adviser, respectively.
In his inaugural speech, Hon. Mbong thanked members of the apex organization of former elected Councillors in the state for the confidence reposed on him, pledging to work tiredlessly for the collective benefit of members.
“I am humbled by the trust placed in me, and I pledge to work tirelessly for the collective benefit of our members.”
The former Member of Eket Legislative Council maintained that they decided to gather together with shared vision to forge a United family, dedicated to serving their members and contributing to the development of the state, noting that their vision is multifaceted.
He demanded for political inclusion and recognition of their members by the state government, leveraging on their grassroots experience and insights.
He listed some of the aims to include: sponsorship of a bill in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for a monthly stipend for former elected councilors, ensuring our welfare and dignity; providing support and assistance to colleagues facing health challenges, helping them recover and thrive; and promoting welfare and interests of former elected councilors across Akwa Ibom State.
Mbong noted that the Forum is driven by the challenges faced by some of their members who have been abandoned by previous administration. He promised to support and promote the ARISE Agenda Policy of Governor Umo Eno led administration in the State.
“We are driven by the harsh realities faced by many of our members who have been neglected, rejected, and abandoned by previous governments. Sadly, many have lost their lives due to lack of support, while others struggle to access basic healthcare. This forum is a response to these challenges, and we are committed to addressing them.
“We pledge to support and promote the lofty programs of our governor’s administration through the ARISE agenda. We believe in the potential of our state and are committed to working collaboratively with the government to drive progress. As the most connected individuals to the grassroots, we promise to protect and preserve government projects in our respective local governments.
He also congratulated some of their former colleagues who have risen through the ranks to become prominent people in the society, acknowledging the success which is a motivating factor to some of them.
He commended the Governor for synergizing with the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the synergy will bring positive outcome to the State.
He also assured members of running an open door administration, urging members to join him by contributing their quota to the success of his administration.
