Rep Idem to Restore Electricity in Ukanafun LGA in 90 Days after over five years of darkness
…donates transformers to some affected areas
The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, has promised to restore electricity in Ukanafun Local Government Area within 90 days.
Rep. Idem sympathized deeply with the people of Ukanafun, who have been in darkness for well over five years.
He made the promise after being briefed by a team of Engineers who, at his directive, went round to assess the extent of damage on electricity infrastructure, linking the Local Government to national grid.
The engineers, upon completion of assessment, gave Rep. Idem a list of items needed and the cost implication, assuring him that upon provision of the requirements, the infrastructure will be fixed and power restored to the local government in 90 days.
Rep. Idem, who was represented during the assessment exercise by a former Secretary of Ukanafun Local Government Council, Obong James Ekekere, promised to meet requirements as soon as possible, to fast track the restoration of power in the local government.
He also promised to donate transformers to some affected areas, as part of his commitment to boosting power supply in the area.
The Federal Lawmaker however charged every village in the local government area to set up security committees, with the mandate to protect the power infrastructure within their domains, from vandalism.
