Umahi-Rufai feud,: Let us be very objective with this matter, devoid of emotions and sentiments…

By Comrade Phils

I agree that sometimes Mr. Rufai Oseni often comes off as rude to his guests but in the case of his interview with Mr Umahi, I see things differently.

Mr Umahi was being asked very pertinent questions regarding a project that attracted a whopping N1.06 trillion for the initial phase.

“How much is the project cost per kilometer?”

The minister could not answer this simple question and when pressed further, resorted to very vain responses.

But the minister’s poor outing in that interview is not my problem. The Nigerians whose money could not be accounted for in that interview are.

I find it quite absurd that some citizens of a country whose greater percentage of its population is riddled in abject poverty would be more concerned about the feelings of a minister who was squeezed by a journalist than the fact the he couldn’t give factual account of how a whopping N1. 06 Trillion has been spent so far on a public project.

People who have never queried govt’s excesses for once are writing epistle to teach Mr. Rufai Useni how to be a professional journalist. Some are querying his qualifications. It is the unprofessionalism of Rufai, a journalist with a private TV station that bothers some Nigerians, not the unprofessionalism of a minister who lives on taxpayer’s funds and who oversees a huge percentage of projects funded with the collective wealth of the people.

It is the way some of us choose their priority of concern that bothers me, and that tempts me to say our problem is ingrown.

Some of us are so determined to be retarded, with no hope to escape these self-inflicted injuries.

It is, to say the least, a pity!
