“Whether you are in PDP or APC, we are all supporting Governor Umo Bassey Eno” – Frank Archibong

Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, has stated that the Akwa Ibom Unity Project is aimed at supporting Governor Umo Bassey Eno.

He maintained that no matter the political affiliation one may belong to, the bottom line is to galvanize support for the Governor.

Archibong stated this during a condolence visit to the family of Chief Christopher Hanson Isong, the political maradona of Eket politics by Eket Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively, on the demise of his wife, Late Mrs. Ekefre Isong, held at the family compound, Usung Inyang in Eket Local Government Area.

“Whether you are in PDP or APC, we are all supporting Governor Umo Bassey Eno. All of us in unity and unison are supporting Pastor Umo Bassey Eno,” said Archibong.

He noted that Chief Isong has served Eket politically to the satisfaction of all, hence his sacrifices were reciprocated with the election of his first son, Hon. Uso Hanson as the Chapter Chairman of PDP in Eket Local Government Area.

The Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Boss, emphasized the need for party faithfuls to always identify with those who are mourning, stressing that there is no political ranking or status when it comes to supporting a bereaved family, as what is done to A should be done same to B, devoid of classes.

While applauding the massive turn out at the condolence visit, he charged all to come out enmasse to give the deceased a befitting burial.

In his remarks, the Deputy Leader of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Member representing Eket State Constituency, Dr. Nsidibe Akata, noted that his foray into Eket Politics started with the family of Chief C. H. Isong, which has paid off, calling for more support for the bereaved family.

The APC Chapter Chairman in Eket Local Government Area, Akwaukuriso Akanimo, and PDP Chapter Secretary, Mr. Samuel Okon, re-echoed their support for united parties in Eket and Akwa Ibom State respectively, noting that political party is only platform for election.

Earlier, the Chairman of Eket Local Government and Chief Host, Mkpisong Akaniyene Tommey, thanked PDP and APC members for unity of purpose in Eket Local Government Area, maintaining that both parties will continue to work together to deliver Governor Umo Eno in 2027 general elections.

The event was graced by party faithfuls including former State House Member, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, wife of Eket Council Chairman, Mrs Akaniyene Tommey, SSA on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, Leader Eket Legislative Council, Hon. Joy Richard Ekanem, Joint Labour Chairman, Mr. Godwin Ndueso, Councillors, Supervisors, Aides of the Governor, among others.
