Flag-Off of 15,000 Bags of Rice Distribution Donated by the Dangote Foundation
Today, I had the honour of representing my boss, His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, at the official flag-off ceremony for the distribution of 15,000 bags of rice generously donated to Akwa Ibom State by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
The event, held at the Women Development Centre, IBB Avenue, Uyo, marked a major step in our collective efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable members of our society.
While delivering the Governor’s goodwill message, I conveyed profound appreciation to the Dangote Foundation for this timely and compassionate gesture. As I emphasized during the ceremony, this donation goes beyond food—it is a symbol of hope and solidarity with struggling families across the state.
This intervention aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Social Investment Programme and complements our own Bulk Purchase Food Intervention Programme under the ARISE Agenda, which has already reached over 477,000 households across all 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.
I am also pleased to announce that the third phase of our free food distribution initiative will commence this August, as we continue our mission to leave no one behind.
Even as we provide immediate relief, we remain committed to long-term solutions. His Excellency has consistently advocated a return to agriculture as the path to food security, self-reliance, and sustainable prosperity for our people.
I sincerely thank all stakeholders who joined us today—the Dangote Foundation team, government officials, the ALGON Chairman and Council Chairmen, as well as representatives of vulnerable groups—for their support and shared commitment.
Together, let us continue building a stronger, more compassionate Akwa Ibom State. 🌾💚
