Akwa Ibom League of Professionals Hosted by Arc Ezekiel Nya Etok: A Business-Minded Interactive Session
In what turned out to be an engaging yet business-oriented visit, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-etok, Executive Director (Estate) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), played host to the Akwa Ibom League of Professionals, Abuja, in his office.
Leading the delegation, the President of the League, Chief John Umoren, expressed appreciation to Arc. Etok for the rare audience, describing the meeting as a fellowship of professionals bound by shared values and aspirations.
“We all belong here, as this office is occupied by a brother and fellow professional,” the President remarked. He used the forum to brief Arc. Etok on the association’s assets and plans, which include a duly registered consultancy company, a proposed database of professionals, and a plan for rotational hosting of business meetings by top professionals such as Arc. Etok himself. He further invited Etok to renew his membership with the League and, on behalf of the body, warmly congratulated him on his appointment as Executive Director.
Highlighting the structure of the League, he noted that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, serves as its Grand Patron, stressing the group’s desire for an audience with the governor.
According to the President, two key areas stand out among his five-point agenda, membership drive and intergovernmental relations.
He also revealed that the League had adopted plans to celebrate Akwa Ibom Day in Abuja on September 13, with the diplomatic community expected to be part of the event.
In his address, Arc. Etok welcomed the delegation warmly, urging them to remain focused on their objectives. He emphasized the need for the League to hold business-driven meetings rather than purely social gatherings, adding that professionalism and diligence must be their hallmark.
“This body must be the one that changes the lives of its members. It’s about the quality of people here. Everyone must be diligent. I really want us to succeed,” he noted.
Etok, who traced his humble beginnings and lifelong journey of perseverance, gave insights into his vision at FHA. He revealed that as a matter of policy, no file remains on his desk overnight, reiterating his commitment to deliver results as a professional. He disclosed that FHA estates nationwide are under his purview and announced plans to commence the first phase of the estate development in Uyo, in partnership with the First Mortgage Bank, offering repayment periods of up to 30 years. He urged Akwa Ibom people to key into the scheme.
Reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as his boss, Arc. Etok also pledged unwavering support to Governor Umo Eno, whom he called ‘a nice person worthy of support.’ He assured that he would channel his efforts towards making housing affordable for the people of Akwa Ibom while backing the governor’s second-term bid.
Other speakers at the session included Mkpisong Jackson Ndueso, the Obong of Akwa Ibom Community in Abuja, who revived Etok’s earlier advocacy on “fish ponds for every home” and smart agriculture; Barr. Felicia Umoh, who praised Etok’s consistency in governance discourse; Amb. Nsikan Paul, who called for youth inclusion in social governance, integrating tourism into the estate ecosystem; and Blessing Ambrose of Beam Television, who offered to host Arc. Etok on a special television series.
The Vice President of the league, Obom Iniobong Jackson and other members equally lauded the host’s humility, professional values, and benevolence gestures to Akwa Ibom people. He further emphasized the vital role of professionalism across various spheres, urging members to draw inspiration from Arc. Etok’s exemplary leadership
In recognition of his appointment, the Association presented Arc. Ezekiel Nya Etok with a congratulatory card. The gesture, simple yet symbolic, reflected the League’s collective goodwill and support, reaffirming their solidarity with him as he takes on the responsibilities of Executive Director, Estate at the Federal Housing Authority
The League’s BOT, Obong Iniobong Akpabio, in a humorous but insightful remark, described Etok’s mentoring words as “a lecture worth paying for,” urging members to uphold ethical standards and ensure the association leaves a legacy for future generations.
The meeting ended with a heartfelt prayer for Arc. Etok, seeking God’s guidance on his new role and blessings for the League of Professionals.
