Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State will today, Monday September 15, 2025 return to the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Center, Ibom-LED at noon, for a one-day business workshop and opening ceremony for participants of the EAP batch 4.
At the event, the Governor is also expected to inaugurate the Executive Council of the Association of Akwa Ibom State Entrepreneurs.
It would be recalled that Governor Eno, in appreciating female youth groups for their solidarity and support for his administration, had promised to train and empower select female youths whom he often describe as his greatest cheerleaders.
Consequently, the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program, EAP batch 4, is specifically designed for the female youths and pioneer Trainees from Dakkada Skills Acquisition Center, DASAC. The Governor’s presence at the opening ceremony underscores his commitment to youth development in the State.
The EAP in the past 2years has helped 1,200 entrepreneurs shift their mindset, from operating as solo entrepreneurs or skilled artisans offering unique, high-quality products or services – to building scalable business systems that has generated employment and is driving economic growth in the State.
Through the EAP, Governor Eno has disbursed over 600 million naira to participants as seed capital grants ranging from N500,000 to N750,000 to enable previously dormant enterprises to revive operations.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entrepreneurial Development, Mr Ime Uwa in an interview with newsmen says, commencing every new batch with a concept note workshop, helps to reshape the participants mentality while guiding them to develop business ideas.
Uwah who is also the General Manager of Ibom-LED, added that batch 4 participants comprising pioneer trainees from DASAC and select members of female youth groups like; the female youth lemon, female youth purple, Golden girls, ladies in white and Iban Patience Umo Eno, had before today, picked up their admission letters from the center.
Beyond training, it is note worthy that Ibom-LED regularly conducts rigorous monitoring and evaluation exercises, offering hands-on guidance to both participating entrepreneurs and beneficiaries of various government empowerment initiatives, throughout their journey.
For business owners positioned for growth, the center also facilitates access to the N4 billion matching fund loan of the Akwa Ibom State government and Bank of industry.
