GOV ENO APPROVES ISSUANCE OF APPOINTMENT LETTERS TO 4,000

… approves hiring of another 2000 teachers

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has directed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Ekerebong Umoh, to immediately commence the issuance of appointment letters to the 4000 successful applicants of the recently-concluded Civil Service recruitment exercise in the State.

Governor Eno gave the directive Friday, September 18, 2026, when he received the Civil Service Recruitment report by a team led by the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission in his Office at Government House, Uyo.

The Governor also approved the recruitment of another 2, 000 teachers by the State Universal Basic Education Board to complement the model primary schools constructed across the State.

He commended the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs Umoh, Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, Head of Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, and the entire team for their diligent service, doggedness, transparency and for successfully driving the process to ensure a level playing field for all applicants.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing a fair and equal opportunity for every Akwa Ibomite willing to render service at any capacity.

The Governor made reference to a friend who contacted him to favour his son, but he advised him to allow the child pass through the process, which he did and eventually succeeded.

“Today is one day I feel very happy to serve the State. We can say truthfully that we had a transparent recruitment exercise, and the people coming in will value the job because they know they worked hard to come into the service.

“I only hope and trust God that when we finish our tour of duty, posterity will be kind to us. Posterity will be able to see what we actually wanted to achieve, that for once we can have an Akwa Ibom State where every body can be somebody,” he said

Presenting the analysis of the recruitment exercise report, Mrs Ekerebong Umoh thanked Governor Eno for providing jobs for thousands of unemployed youths through a fair and transparent approach.

She said the recruitment exercise was very comprehensive and demanding given the large number of applicants, stressing that over 36,000 candidates registered in the portal, and only 12,000 qualified for the first interview.

According to her, candidates who scored 50 percent and above in the CBT exercise participated in the oral interview for the final selection.

At the meeting were the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Head of Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson, and other government officials.
