EKET COUNCIL BOSS HAILS UMO ENO’S INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVE, SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH THE MEDIA

The Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Mr. Akanyiyene Tommey, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development across the state’s 31 local government areas.

Speaking while receiving the leadership of the Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals (EFCMP), led by its Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsima, during an inspection tour of projects in Eket on Friday, July 31, 2026, the Chairman said, the Governor’s investments in roads, healthcare, education, housing and other critical infrastructure reflect purposeful, people-centred leadership and align with his ARISE Agenda.

He also lauded the Governor for the construction of residential quarters for doctors, judges and civil servants, model primary healthcare centres and schools, upgraded hospitals, solar-powered water schemes across the 369 wards, as well as flagship projects such as the ARISE Palm Resort, Airport Terminal, Airport Hospital and Aviation Village.

While inspecting the ongoing remodelling of the Eket Council Secretariat and the new Legislative Chambers, Tommey said his administration is committed to providing a conducive working environment and delivering enduring infrastructure that will serve future administrations.

He added that the council has also prioritised road grading, rehabilitation, human capital development and educational support for indigenous students.

Earlier, the forum’s Chairman, Comrade Enobong Nsima, commended Tommey’s inclusive leadership and commitment to development, noting that the remodelling of the council secretariat, construction of the legislative complex and landscaping of the council premises would strengthen governance in the area.

He also unveiled the forum’s programmes, including professional training for members at the International Institute of Journalism and a major media conference scheduled for October.

Responding, Tommey urged journalists to uphold professionalism in their reportage and pledged support for the forum’s capacity-building initiatives, including sponsoring members to obtain professional journalism certification and providing the Eket City Hall as the venue for the October media event.

He reaffirmed his commitment to Governor Umo Eno’s second-term bid and the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The meeting was attended by Aides to the Governor, members of the Board of Trustees and the newly inaugurated executives of the Eket Federal Constituency Media Professionals.
