Esit Eket Rounds Up Free Holiday Tech Camp

as Best Performing Students Smile Home with Brand New Laptops

The free holiday tech camp organized by Esit Eket Local Government Council for students across public secondary schools in the area has been rounded up today with three outstanding students smiling home with a brand new laptop each.

With no fewer than 110 participating students, the programme with the theme; “Bridging the Digital Divide in Our Community” aimed at engaging young minds in Esit Eket with basic knowledge in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), mostly in Robotics, Electronics, computational mathematics, programming, amongst others, in order to light up their future in line with the contemporary world of technological advancement.

Addressing participants at the grand finale of the seven weeks intensive training programme held at the council secretariat Uquo, the Chairman of Esit Eket LGA Hon. (Mrs) Uduak Ikemesit Ikot expressed satisfaction with performance of the students who participated in the programme, saying their performances have justified the essence government invested its resources in the programme.

By way of sustainability and continuation of the idea, the council boss also used the medium to announce plans to immediately set up a well equipped ICT centre in the council secretariat for more students to register and be trained in different areas of ICT with all expenses to be taken care of by the local government.

Some of the students who interacted with newsmen shortly after the event expressed excitement over the programme, maintaining that the programme has really opened the horizon to the reality of contemporary digital world. They specifically thanked the council boss for the initiative of investing in the future of Esit Eket through them.

In their respective goodwill messages, school Principals, parents and invited guests commended Esit Eket Local Government Council for organizing such an important programme, expressing optimism that such initiative if sustained, is capable of birthing more engineer and ICT experts in Esit Eket.

Highpoint of the event was the official presentation of certificate of participation to all participating students as well as special performances by the students.
