Senator Ekong Sampson commends Gov Umo Eno for Mkpat Enin-Ikot Ekpe-Ikot Umiang-Efa road, assures of ‘rock solid support’ from Mkpat Enin

Senator Ekong Sampson, representing Akwa Ibom South, has lauded Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, over the construction of the 10.83KM Mkpat Enin – Ikot Ekpe – Ikot Umiang – Ikot Afang – Mbioto – Efa Road, which links several communities in Mkpat Enin and Etinan Local Government Areas.

The road which also covers an additional 1.93KM spur to Ikot Eyienge – home of the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene, and a 30-metre bridge, will be commissioned later today by Governor Umo Eno. It is one of the rural connectivity interventions being advanced by the Eno administration across the State.

Reacting to the project, Senator Sampson commended Governor Umo Eno for the road which he noted will greatly improve accessibility as well as boost socioeconomic activities between Mkpat Enin and Etinan. Sampson also praised the quality of the job done on the road which comes with solar-powered streetlights and outfall drains.

Senator Sampson who has been very passionate about improving road infrastructure in Mkpat Enin, further thanked Governor Eno for graciously approving the construction of other critical roads in the area, most notably, the ongoing 13.3KM Ibekwe Akpanya-Ikot Unya-Ekpuk Road; awarding of Ikot Akpaden – Ikot Ekpuk -Minya road. He expressed optimism that work will be expedited on the ongoing construction of the Ibekwe – Ikot Akpaden major corridor road, once the rains subside.

Senator Sampson stated that the Umo Eno administration has shown strong commitment to the welfare and development of Mkpat Enin, as evident in a number of interventions and important appointments, such as the LGA being supported to produce the current APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, the State Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, among many other appointees. He also expressed deep gratitude to Governor Eno for actively supporting his re-election to the Senate.

The Onomkpoinam maintained that Mkpat Enin remains very proud of Governor Umo Eno’s leadership as a distinguished in-law, and reassured him of what he termed ‘rock solid support’ from the Local Government Area. The top parliamentarian pledged to work in collaboration with other stakeholders and Mkpat Enin people to deliver the Local Government Area massively for the APC in 2027.
