IBOM DEVELOPERS FZE RESTORES ELECTRICITY IN OBOHIA NDOKI

Residents of Obohia Ndoki Community in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State are set to enjoy improved access to electricity following the intervention of Ibom Developers FZE, which has supported the resuscitation of electricity supply in the community.

The intervention, which is part of the company’s commitment to supporting sustainable community development and improving the wellbeing of its host communities, was formally acknowledged on Thursday during a community engagement at Obohia Ndoki.

Ibom Developers FZE transferred the sum of ₦5 million to support the resuscitation of electricity in the community, a development described by community leaders and representatives as a significant demonstration of the company’s commitment to its relationship with Obohia Ndoki.

Speaking at the occasion, the Eze-Choose of Obohia Ndoki, Chief Ugochukwu John Nduwuisi, expressed appreciation to Ibom Developers FZE for fulfilling its promise to the community.

Chief Nduwuisi said the restoration of electricity would have a direct impact on the daily lives and economic activities of residents, noting that reliable electricity is important to the development of any modern community.

He commended the company for responding positively to the community’s request and for ensuring that the commitment made to Obohia Ndoki was followed through with concrete action.

“We are grateful to Ibom Developers FZE for fulfilling its promise to Obohia Ndoki. The release of ₦5 million towards the resuscitation of electricity is not just financial support; it is a demonstration that the company listens to the concerns of the people and is willing to work with the community to address them,” he said.

The Eze-Elect further appealed for the relationship between the community and Ibom Developers FZE to be strengthened, urging the company to continue to support initiatives that would contribute to the development of Obohia Ndoki.

He noted that while the electricity intervention was significant, there remained other areas of need in the community, expressing optimism that the existing relationship would provide a platform for further collaboration.

Also speaking, the President of Obohia Ndoki Youth Council, Comrade Allwell George, commended Ibom Developers FZE for what he described as a meaningful intervention that would positively affect the community.
George said the youth were particularly appreciative of the company’s willingness to engage with the community and respond to issues affecting residents.

“Electricity is more than just light. It creates opportunities. It supports businesses, improves security, enables learning and gives our young people a better environment to pursue their dreams. We appreciate Ibom Developers FZE for seeing the importance of this intervention and for keeping its word to our community,” he said.

The youth president also called for continued dialogue between the company and the community, stressing that a strong relationship between corporate organisations and host communities was essential for sustainable development.

He assured the company of the willingness of the youths to support initiatives that promote peace, development, and mutually beneficial relations.

In his remarks, Mbibichirizi Hyacinth Iheanacho, who stood for Umulu Compound, also expressed appreciation to Ibom Developers FZE for its intervention.

Iheanacho described the company’s support as an encouraging gesture and noted that the return of electricity would bring relief to households and businesses within the community.

He said the intervention demonstrated the importance of partnership between communities and development-oriented organisations, while encouraging Ibom Developers FZE to sustain its engagement with the people.

According to him, community development is most effective when stakeholders work together to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.

Representing Ibom Developers FZE, the company’s Community Development Programme (CDP) Manager, Grace Inyang, reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining a constructive relationship with Obohia Ndoki and other communities within its area of operation.

Inyang explained that the electricity intervention reflected the company’s approach to community engagement, which places emphasis on identifying genuine community needs and supporting interventions capable of producing tangible benefits.

She stressed the importance of collaboration, mutual understanding and sustained communication between the company and the community in achieving meaningful and lasting development outcomes.

The CDP Manager expressed appreciation to the traditional leadership, youth representatives, and other stakeholders in Obohia Ndoki for their cooperation and support, noting that the company’s relationship with its host communities remained an important part of its operations.

She said Ibom Developers FZE would continue to engage responsibly with its stakeholders while exploring opportunities to contribute to community development within available resources and agreed frameworks.

The electricity intervention has been widely welcomed by community representatives, who described the resuscitation of power supply as an important step towards improving social and economic activities in Obohia Ndoki.

For residents, the return of electricity is expected to provide improved conditions for small businesses, domestic activities, education, and other aspects of everyday life.

The engagement also reinforced the importance of continued collaboration between Ibom Developers FZE and the Obohia Ndoki community, with stakeholders expressing hope that the intervention would mark the beginning of further development partnerships.

The community also expressed special acknowledgements to Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) for their support to the affiliates in expediting the development work including recent support to Ohanso, Ndoki in Ukwa East LGA.

The community leadership, youth representatives and other stakeholders thanked Ibom Developers FZE for the support and appealed for the existing relationship to be sustained and expanded through further interventions in areas of priority to the community.

The event ended on a note of appreciation, with both the company and community representatives reaffirming the importance of peaceful engagement, partnership and shared responsibility in advancing the development of Obohia Ndoki.
