Over 3000 Residents Have Benefitted from The Archibong Udoh Free Medical/Surgical Outreach – Dr. Okoiseh Oku

‎Over 3,000 residents in Eket Local Government Area have benefited from the 2nd edition of the 5-day Free Medical and Surgical Outreach organized by the “Archibong Udoh Foundation Medical Mission” aimed at bridging critical healthcare gaps and providing essential lifesaving impact to vulnerable persons.

‎In an interview with journalists at Immanuel Hospital, Eket, on Friday, Senior Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital and Coordinator of the 2nd Edition of the free medical and surgical outreach, courtesy of the Archibong Udoh Foundation Medical Mission, Dr. Okoiseh Oku Samuel, said the medical outreach, which started last year, has taken a dynamic approach, resulting in a massive turnout of 3,396 people and significant results.

‎Dr. Oku appreciated the coordinators and sponsor of the foundation for their magnanimity and commitment to reaching out to the people, stressing that the program has brought tremendous relief to them, saved lives, and delivered free life-changing care, including consultations, screenings, and treatment to patients with critical health conditions.

‎”Health is very expensive in today’s economy. Even an average citizen cannot afford healthcare, including doctors. We came here on Monday 18th with 3,000 cards. Between Monday and Tuesday 19th, the cards were almost exhausted which shows that we have seen over 2,000 out-patient cases with various critical illnesses that are not surgery.

‎”We have performed a total of 286
‎ surgeries, including major surgeries such as exploratory laparotomy for ruptured tubal ectopic gestation, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, exploratory laparotomy for ruptured appendicitis, vaginal hysterectomy, cesarean sections, mesenteric cystectomy and giant inguinoscrotal hernioraphy, all free of charge. We also had four Ceaserean section (CS) with all four babies delivered alive and in good health. One of them was delivered on the 19th which coincided with the 50th birthday of Mr. Frank Archibong” He added.

‎According to available data summary, some of notable successes highlighted by Dr. Okoiseh Oku include; 3,396 Medical consultations 3,153 OPD, 2,258 Pharmacy Dispensing, Optometry Services and Glasses 678, Dental Surgical procedures 445, laboratory testing and services, 428.

‎The Archibong Udoh Foundation Medical Mission, also donated two new units of Theatre table and Theatre lamp to Immanuel hospital as support for surgical unit.

‎In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, commended the team, saying that the free medical outreach aligns with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno, PhD, whom he said, has performed tremendously well in all sector of the economy.
‎He specifically applauded the Governor for his passion and dedication in tackling critical health conditions requiring specialized care and granting access to quality healthcare delivery for rural dwellers lacking affordable healthcare.

‎Also speaking, Coordinator of the foundation, Elder Samuel Okon, expressed satisfaction and thanked the medical team for their impressive and professional conduct throughout the 5-day free Medical and Surgical outreach, which was part of activities lined up to celebrate the 50th jubilee birthday of the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong.
