Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Cultist in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and cultist during a stop-and-search operation in Uyo.

The suspect, identified as Kufre Aniefiok Akpan from Nkin Village in Itu Local Government Area, was apprehended around 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Nung Oku roundabout by Ring Road 3.

Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Saturday.

“During the search, operatives recovered a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun, two live cartridges, and items suspected to be charms,” John said.

She added that the suspect confessed to being an active member of the ‘Sky Low’ secret cult during interrogation.

“The Command has commenced investigations into the matter, and further developments will be communicated to members of the public,” the PPRO assured.
