Rep Idem Celebrates Bishop Joe Idem, Wife on 40th Marriage Anniversary, gun attack survival, book presentation 

The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, PhD, has felicitated Bishop Dr. Joe Idem and his wife, Dr. Grace, on their 40th marriage anniversary.

Rep. Idem also expressed thanks to God for sparing the life of Dr. Joe Idem, who survived 42 gunshots.

The thanksgiving event, which was held at the New Ark of Covenant Ministries, Uyo, also featured the presentation of the celebrant’s latest book, “Two Rivers to Cross.”

Addressing the gathering as Chairman on the occasion, Rep. Unyime Idem thanked God for sparing Bishop Idem’s life to survive such a life threatening attack, describing the life of the Man of God as a testimony.

On the presentation of Dr. Joe’s book, ‘Two Rivers to Cross,’ Rep. Idem described the literary work as “a powerful metaphor for the challenges and choices Christians face in navigating their spiritual journeys in a complex and often challenging world.”

He posited that the two rivers Christians are likely to experience are trials and temptations, as well as cultural influence, but assured that they can be surmounted through faith, reliance on God’s grace, fellowship with believers, prayer, and mutual encouragement, referencing James 1:2-4 and Romans 12:2.

Rep. Idem concluded that the journey of crossing the “two rivers” is a continuous process for Christians, involving perseverance, faith, and a commitment to live according to God’s will amidst life’s trials and cultural demands.

He also recommended that with total reliance on God’s strength and the support of fellow believers, Christians can navigate these challenges with hope and resilience, reflecting Christ’s love in a complex world.

The Federal lawmaker launched the book and recommended it to the public, emphasizing that it is insightful and provides direction to Christians in their daily walk with God.
