Hon. Unyime Idem Flags Off Training for 150 Constituents in Digital Marketing
…..Promises Laptops and Cash Grants
In a renewed push to empower young people with digital skills, the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Unyime Idem, has flagged off the training of another batch of 150 young constituents in Digital Marketing and E-Business Development.
The all-expense-paid programme, which commenced earlier today, covers accommodation, feeding, and training materials for all participants and organizers throughout the training period. At the end of the programme, each participant will receive a brand-new laptop and a cash grant to enable them put the acquired skills into practice.
The lawmaker was represented at the opening ceremony by a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Idongesit Umoh, who reiterated that the initiative forms part of Hon. Idem’s broader vision to train 1,000 constituents in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and related skills as a strategic approach to youth empowerment, job creation and economic independence.
According to him, the current batch will undergo intensive hands-on training in digital marketing strategies, online branding, social media business management, e-commerce operations and other aspects of e-business development, equipping them with the tools needed to establish and grow sustainable online businesses.
Hon. Idem reaffirmed his commitment to programmes that promote human capacity development, stressing that empowering young people with relevant digital skills remains one of the most effective and sustainable ways to tackle unemployment and poverty.
In his remarks, the training organizer and Managing Director, Oldbosom Nigeria Limited, outlined the areas the programme will cover. These include the fundamentals of digital marketing, practical strategies for starting and growing online businesses, product promotion techniques, creation of engaging digital content, effective customer reach, and the use of digital tools to build sustainable businesses.
Some participants who spoke at the event expressed appreciation to Hon. Idem for the opportunity, describing the programme as timely and impactful. They pledged to make the most of the training and apply the knowledge gained to create businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The latest initiative builds on a similar intervention earlier this year. In January, Hon. Idem sponsored the training of 100 young constituents in cyber security, after which participants were also equipped with laptops and cash grants to support the practice of the skills acquired.
With the launch of the new batch of trainees, Hon. Idem’s digital empowerment programme continues to gather momentum as it steadily works toward its ambitious goal of training 1,000 constituents for opportunities in the digital economy.
