“She Blocked Me But Couldn’t Block Karma” — Storm as Filmmaker Adiakpan Celebrates Ban of Ini Edo’s Movie, Alleges 2021 Betrayal
A fresh controversy has erupted in Nollywood following the reported ban of a movie starring actress Ini Edo, after filmmaker Mariatherese Adiakpan took to social media to openly celebrate the development and accuse the actress of unprofessional conduct.
Reacting to videos of Ini Edo allegedly crying and pleading that her film should not be taken down, Adiakpan mocked the situation, describing it as “karma in action.” According to her, the actress put her through emotional and financial hardship in 2021 after collecting millions of naira as full acting fees but allegedly failed to show up for a scheduled shoot in Uyo.
In a lengthy post, Adiakpan claimed that Ini Edo switched off her phone a day to the shoot, ignored multiple calls, and later claimed she was ill and quarantined, after missing her flight. She further alleged that she was forced to urgently recast the role to save the production, while absorbing losses including flight tickets for Ini Edo and her assistant, as well as custom-made costumes tailored specifically to the actress.
“The money I lost, the emotional stress and mental trauma you put me, my family and my team through was heavy,” Adiakpan wrote, adding that she was advised at the time not to pursue the matter publicly. “This cry you are crying now sweet me pass the money I lost,” she added, insisting the actress showed no remorse afterward.
She concluded by expressing satisfaction over the current situation, stating that she hopes Ini Edo has “learnt,” and attributing the moment to divine intervention.
Fuel was added to the controversy after Nollywood actor Aniebiet Francis dropped a sharp reaction in the comment section, writing:
“She blocked me but couldn’t block karma.”
