Aides to Governor Umo Eno, Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Mfon Bassey, and Comrade Jeremiah Edoho, Personal Assistant on New Media, have commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor for the construction of residences for council chairmen across the 31 local government areas.

The commendation was made on Saturday, 24th January 2026, during a popular radio programme, Ibom Matters Arising, aired on Heritage 104.9FM, where they discussed: “Grassroots Development and Inclusive Governance: The Construction of Residences for Council Chairmen Across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.”

Speaking on the programme, Comrade Edoho and Mr. Bassey described the initiative as a deliberate and strategic intervention aimed at enhancing accessibility and promoting responsive governance at the grassroots. They noted that the project aligns fully with Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

They emphasized that the initiative represents a shift from short-term political gestures to long-term investments in public institutions that will endure beyond individual administrations.

“The economic impact of this project is equally significant. With construction ongoing across 30 local government areas, local artisans, suppliers, contractors, and labourers are actively engaged, stimulating grassroots economies and ensuring development is visible and inclusive,” they said.

The aides further clarified that the project is fully funded by the Akwa Ibom State government. Each facility features a main residential building, a 50-seat hall, generator house, boys’ quarters, and a gatehouse.

They also lauded Local Government council Chairmen for driving the governor’s ARISE Agenda with tangible development at the grassroots.

Comrade Edoho and Mr. Bassey reaffirmed that Governor Eno remains focused on closing infrastructure gaps, strengthening healthcare and education, improving security, driving industrialization, and creating jobs.

They urged the people of Akwa Ibom to embrace APC and INEC e-registration while continuing their support for Governor Umo Eno, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The programme, sponsored by the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, was expertly anchored by Mr. Kufre George.
