Esit Eket Chairman Signs 2026 Appropriation Bill into Law, Calls for Peace, Cooperation

Applauds Gov Eno’s Exemplary Leadership

The Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Uduak Ikemesit Ikot has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law

The budget which makes provision for recurrent and capital expenditure, with a total size of N12.231 Billion was passed into law on December 30, 2025 by the legislative arm of the Local Government and received the Chairman’s assent today at the council secretariat, Uquo.

Speaking during the meeting, the Council Boss reiterated her commitment to tackling the core needs of the people which includes but not limited to education, infrastructure, inter-community road network, ICT and skills advancement.

Ikot also seized the opportunity to reemphasize the need to work together for the economic growth of the area, adding that development can only thrive where there is peace and cooperation.

She lauded the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his impactful leadership, citing the peace, infrastructural development, and human capital advancement the state currently enjoys while pledging to replicate these achievements in Esit Eket.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Council Secretary, Comrade Godwin Elijah, applauded the Council Chairman for her approachable style of leadership, noting that it has fostered open communication, strengthened collaboration, and made it easy for staff and stakeholders to engage with the council.

In his vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Elder Eddy Etangkanga, commended the legislators for their timely passage of the Bill. He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman for her cordial working relationship with her Exco members, legislators, security operatives, and stakeholders, noting that this collaboration has contributed to the peace and stability of the area.
