Man declared wanted by the police regarding a murder investigation in Bayelsa
The Bayelsa State Police Command has issued a wanted notice for a key suspect, Bodmas Kemepadei, in connection with the alleged conspiracy and murder of 24-year-old Patrick Peresuodei in the Amassoma/Yenagoa region of the state.
The death of Peresuodei in January 2026 triggered protests and significant public outrage due to claims of torture by security forces and a local influencer.
This incident reportedly arose from a dispute on Facebook, leading to accusations of extrajudicial killing, which prompted an investigation by the state government and the detention of several members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
State Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Edebor, announced in a statement on Sunday that the High Court of Bayelsa State has issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
He stated, “Bodmas Prince Kemepadei (m) is wanted by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command.
“The individual named above is hereby declared WANTED by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in relation to the alleged Conspiracy and Murder of Patrick Peresuodei, which occurred in Amassoma/Yenagoa.
“A Warrant of Arrest has been issued against him by the High Court of Bayelsa State of Nigeria.
“Description: Ethnicity: Ijaw, Age: 36 Years, Face Shape: Round, Mouth: Small, Lips: Thin, Eye Color: White, Skin Tone: Dark, Chin: Round, Head: Small, Forehead: Low. Last Known Address: ICCH Centre, Tenacious Street, Ede-Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.”
The spokesperson urged that anyone who encounters him should detain him and take him to the nearest police station or report directly to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Police Command, State Headquarters, Yenagoa. Alternatively, they can contact: 0803 358 0244.
