Daniel Bwala’s Pathetic Evasion Exposes Tinubu’s Failed Governance

In what can only be described as a masterclass in political evasiveness, Daniel Bwala floundered spectacularly under the relentless questioning of journalist Mehdi Hasan of Aljezeera, exposing both his own lack of preparation and the Tinubu administration’s utter failure to protect Nigerians.

Hasan didn’t mince words: “Since President Tinubu took office, insecurity has worsened. Nigeria is now one of the deadliest countries in the world. Amnesty International reports document thousands of killings and kidnappings continuing under this administration. Are you proud of that record?”
Bwala’s answer? “I’m not aware.”

Not once, not twice, but three separate times, Bwala professed ignorance of concrete, publicly documented reports. Even as Hasan cited staggering figures—11,000 deaths in the past year, mass kidnappings across Borno, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Niger states—Bwala offered nothing but empty platitudes, reducing a national crisis to a philosophical riddle: “It depends on how you interpret the numbers. Some people see the glass half empty, others see it half full.”

The interview became even more surreal when Hasan confronted Bwala about a video in which he claimed to have prepared thoroughly for the discussion. When asked what exactly he researched, Bwala paused, looked down, and offered no meaningful answer. This was not mere forgetfulness—it was a display of intellectual laziness at the highest level. At best it could be described as playing the ostrich.

Then came the political hypocrisy. In 2023, Bwala had publicly accused President Tinubu of corruption and said the election involved massive malpractice. When Hasan asked if he had been wrong, Bwala dodged yet again: “The matter was litigated and concluded by the Supreme Court.” In other words, he washed his hands of accountability, refusing to engage with the truth of insecurity and governance failures.

The reality is damning. Since Tinubu took office, Nigeria has descended into chaos. Mass killings, kidnappings, and attacks by insurgents and bandits have become daily headlines, yet the government continues to fumble with reactive policies, cosmetic statements, and denials.

Citizens live in fear while officials hide behind numbers and bureaucratic platitudes.
Bwala’s performance was more than just embarrassing—it was a national embarrassment.

It laid bare a disturbing truth: the Tinubu government is failing Nigerians, and its mouthpieces, rather than defending policy with facts, resort to ignorance and evasions. In a country where lives are being lost daily, such lacklustre attitudes are not only unacceptable—they are shameful.

If accountability and courage are the benchmarks of leadership, both Bwala and the Tinubu administration failed spectacularly on live television. Nigeria deserves better. Much better.
