Dr Emmanuel Ekott Consults Ekanem Willie, Signals Integrity-driven Bid for Eket Federal Constituency Seat

In a move that underscores the intensifying race for the Eket Federal Constituency seat (Eket, Esit Eket, Ibeno and Onna), the Founder of Heritage Polytechnic, Dr Emmanuel Ekott, has formally consulted with prominent political stakeholder, Hon. Ekanem Willie, positioning integrity-driven representation as the cornerstone of his aspiration.

The high-level consultation, held at the residence of Hon. Willie, brought together community leaders and political strategists to deliberate on the future of the constituency ahead of the forthcoming National Assembly elections.

While hosting the aspirant, Hon. Ekanem Willie made a strong case for a renewed standard of legislative representation, stressing that the House of Representatives urgently requires principled and credible leadership.

“Legislation, at its core, requires absolute honesty,” Willie stated. “If Eket is to reclaim its voice at the federal level, we must be deliberate about the character of those we send to Abuja.”

Hon. Willie openly endorsed Dr Emmanuel Ekott’s entry into the race, describing him as a seasoned, honest, and tested personality, whose private-sector accomplishments and educational leadership demonstrate clear readiness for public service.

In his response, Dr Emmanuel Ekott outlined a vision anchored on community development, economic inclusion, and purposeful governance. He dismissed politics driven by personal gain, insisting that his decision to run is motivated solely by the collective advancement of the people of Eket Federal Constituency.

A major highlight of his address was his commitment to reform employment practices within the offshore Oil and Gas sector.

Dr Ekott decried the persistent exclusion of qualified local job seekers due to the absence of Offshore Safety Permits (OSP) and other expensive travel-related requirements. He noted that the high cost of acquiring these documents—often imposed unnecessarily—has denied many capable youths employment opportunities within the industry.

Dr Ekott pledged that, if elected, he would engage relevant authorities to end such practices and ensure that qualified indigenes of Eket are no longer unfairly shut out of opportunities in the Oil and Gas sector.

“I am going to the Green Chamber solely for the interest of the people of Eket Federal Constituency,” Ekott declared. “Our people deserve a voice that places their welfare above private ambition.”

The consultation was attended by a broad spectrum of influential political and community figures, signaling growing grassroots support for Dr Ekott’s aspiration. Notable attendees included Pastor Ita Udo, Mr. Iniobong Idem, Hon Samuel Mbosoh, and several community leaders across the constituency.

As political activities gather momentum, Dr Emmanuel Ekott’s consultation with Hon. Ekanem Willie is widely viewed as a strategic step toward consolidating support around character-based, people-centered representation.

By framing his ambition around integrity, opportunity, and economic accessibility, Dr Ekott is positioning himself as a reform-minded institutional builder prepared to challenge the status quo and deliver purposeful representation for Eket Federal Constituency.
