Pastor Umo Eno and Senator Akon Eyakenyi: The Partnership that Works
By Patrick Edeke
In this moment of tranquility, one can reflect on the remarkable journey of a state on the rise, guided by an extraordinary partnership. At the helm stands His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., a visionary leader with a heart for service, and by his side, the formidable Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Ph.D., a beacon of strength and grace. Theirs is a bond forged not just in political expediency, but in a shared commitment to a greater purpose: the genuine repositioning of Oro and Akwa Ibom State at large.
This is a partnership that works, a testament to what can be achieved when two leaders, from different walks of life, unite under a common goal. It is a partnership that has not only set the state on a new trajectory of growth but has also, with deliberate and profound intention, focused its gaze on the vibrant community of Oro. Through the instrumentality of this unbreakable bond between the Deputy Governor and her boss, a new dawn has risen over Oro, promising pristine progress and prosperity.
Yet, in the midst of this promising endeavor, a discordant note is sometimes heard, a whisper of “mpko ebak ou” (a term often used to denote selfish or self-serving interests). This is a narrative woven by a minute, dissident voice, a mischievous antic aimed at creating an unexisting and unsettling political hemisphere in Oro. But let us be clear: this is nothing more than a desperate attempt to sow discord where none exists. The truth is a testament to the opposite.
Her Excellency, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, has been a tireless advocate for her people, facilitating numerous political appointments for deserving Oro sons and daughters. These are appointments that have not been confined to her immediate family, but have been widely distributed, reflecting a commitment to broad-based empowerment. And yes, her children have received appointments, but to cast this as an act of nepotism is to ignore the fundamental truth of their lives. These are individuals who have worked assiduously and deservingly for their positions, proving their mettle and earning their place. To draw a comparison, one can look to the illustrious George Bush family in America, where George W. Bush and Jeb Bush simultaneously served as Governors of Texas and Florida respectively, before the former ascended to the presidency. Their success was not a product of entitlement, but a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. So this can not be different, I was on the campaign trail and I did not see a more committed or hard worker more than the SSA to the Governor in the person of Mr. Daniel Eyakenyi. It leaves one to ponder, is the worker no longer entitled to his wages?
Are wages no longer allowed for well deserving family members who have proven their mettle meritoriously?
The partnership between Governor Eno and Senator Eyakenyi is a testament to shared values, mutual respect, and a collective vision for a better Akwa Ibom. It is a partnership that has placed Oro at the forefront of development, with tangible policies and projects that speak for themselves. The future of Oro is bright, and it is a future built on the foundation of a partnership that works.
To the young people of Akwa Ibom, and particularly those of Oro, a final word of admonition: refuse to be used as instruments to perpetrate hatred and falsehood. The narratives of discord and division are akin to drinking from a poisoned chalice, its effects seeks to erode the very fabric of our community. Instead, uphold respect and decorum.
Support the leaders who are working tirelessly for your betterment. And remember, the greatest legacy you can leave is not one of strife, but one of unity and progress. For in the end, it is “The Partnership That Works” that will truly reposition ORO and lead it to its destined glory.
