The Member representing Eket/Onna/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon Okpolupm Etteh has facilitated a job placement for one of his constituents at the University of Benin.
Etteh, who currently serves as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on University Education, and Chairman, Adhoc Committee on the Niger Delta Clean-Up Funds, extended the gesture to another Eket-born scholar, Dr Emmanuel Michael who has been appointed as a Lecturer 1in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Benin.
According to an appointment letter sighted by this reporter, the university’s governing council, at its special meeting held on October 15, 2025, approved the appointment following the candidate’s successful interview earlier in September.
In an appreciation note, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpe Michael, who hails from Ekpene Ukpa Village, Ward 2 Urban, Eket, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for facilitating the opportunity.
“Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh has been an exemplary leader, driving positive changes in healthcare, education, and infrastructure in our community. I am deeply grateful to God and must thank Rt. Hon. Etteh for being an instrument in advancing my career. I pledge my continued loyalty and support to his leadership,” Dr. Ikpe said.
Dr Ikpe is one of the numerous beneficiaries of Hon. Etteh’s milk of kindness. Similarly, Mrs Evelyn Ukwat also recently got an appointment as Lecturer 1 in a Federal College of Education.
Recently he provided a 500KVA transformer for Edeobok Village in Eket, a community that has been out of power for 6 years, built and donated a 6 classroom blocks to one of Akwa Ibom oldest Secondary Schools, Ndue Eduo High School, while a well furnished ICT center fully solar powered with 40 computer sets has been provided to Government Secondary School Odio, supported School of Nursing Eket and Idung Imo Community with solar street lights.
